Buddy Hield’s new boss is apparently in love with him.

If you were one of the millions of people baffled at how little the Sacramento Kings received in return for DeMarcus Cousins, more information has come out on the topic that could shed light on the issue.

But be warned. In no way, shape or form should you have any beverage in your mouth as you read what comes next.

Ready?

Here it goes.

Apparently, Buddy Hield is the next Stephen Curry.

Of course, we already knew Vivek Ranadive, owner of the Kings, has been somewhat infatuated by guys who could be compared to Stephen Curry. Back in 2014, he made a similar comment about Nik Staukas, whom the Kings drafted No. 8 overall that year.

For the record, Staukas has been…underwhelming, to say the least. He’s obviously not with the Kings any longer, having been traded to the Philadelphia 76ers after just one year in Sacramento.

Let’s hope, for the sake of Kings fans everywhere, that Hield gives them more to cheer about. So far as a rookie, however, the comparison to Curry seems a bit far fetched. And by “a bit,” we really mean it seems outrageous.

Averaging just 8.6 points, 1.4 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game, Hield is also hitting below 40 percent of his shots from the field and below 37 percent from behind the arc.

Stephen Curry, he is not.
