Manchester United are reported to be eyeing a summer approach for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. The Croatia international had been expected to leave for Juventus during the previous summer transfer window before the Nerazzurri blocked his proposed move.
Brozovic’s representative has held talks with numerous English clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea this year, but according to Calciomercato, the Red Devils are deemed favourites to pursue the midfield enforcer in the summer.
The 24-year-old has been hugely influential to the Nerazzurri’s form since the start of November, and United are alerted by the fact that Brozovic has a £43m release clause in his existing deal.
Brozovic, whose contract runs until the summer of 2021, is being seen as a potential replacement for veteran Michael Carrick, who is unlikely to earn an extension beyond the summer.
Carrick, 35, has been an excellent contributor for United over the past decade, but Jose Mourinho is prepared to move on by adding the Croatian talent to his ranks.
Brozovic has netted five goals in 25 outings for Inter Milan during the ongoing campaign.
