Manchester City are ready to complete a double swoop for fullbacks Benjamin Mendy and Danilo, according to reports.
The Citizens have prioritised adding to their defensive options after the departures of Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta this summer.
And Pep Guardiola’s side are set to welcome Mendy and Danilo for a combined fee of £78.5million, following a breakthrough in negotiations with Monaco and Real Madrid respectively.
Mendy will become the world’s most expensive defender at £52million, after City agreed to pay Monaco’s asking price for the French international.
The impending splurge will take City’s summer spending over the £200million mark, following the arrivals of Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva and Ederson Moraes.
Both Mendy and Danilo are set to join Pep Guardiola’s side on their pre-season tour of the United States once they complete medical examinations with the club.
Guardiola is expected to add further to his squad ahead of a Premier League title challenge and retains an interest in Paris Saint-Germain target Alexis Sanchez.
