Mesut Ozil favours a move to Manchester United over Barcelona should he leave Arsenal in the coming months. The Gunners are still negotiating with Ozil, whose contract runs down at the end of this season. A new deal worth £235,000 a week has already been turned down, with the Germany international making it plain to friends he is eyeing a switch to United. (Daily Mail)

Jose Mourinho wants Joao Mario to replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian has struggled for form this season and could be on his way out of Old Trafford. United want Inter Milan star Mario to replace him. Inter paid £40million to snap up the Portugal international and would look to recoup that fee. (Corriere dello Sport)

Rafa Benitez will be given the green light for a January spree in the next 48 hours with a Newcastle takeover moving significantly closer. The Toon chief wants to bring in Liverpool striker Danny Ings and Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw as he bids to avoid the drop. (Daily Star)

Andres Iniesta has urged Barcelona to sign Philippe Coutinho, saying the Liverpool playmaker would be an “important reinforcement” as they look to strengthen their team in January. (Goal)
