Ally McCoist

Ally McCoist has told talkSPORT he would take the Scotland job if it was offered to him.

The Scottish FA are still searching for a new boss more than three months after Gordon Strachan’s departure after their top target Michael O’Neill rejected the chance to take over.

McCoist, who has not managed since leaving Rangers in 2014, accepts he is an outside contender for the role but says he would relish the opportunity if it came is way.

Speaking to his fellow former Scotland international Alan Brazil on Friday, he said: “You never turn you back on your country.

“I would have to suggest there might be one or two in front of me in the queue, but if your country comes calling, you never turn it down.

“It is a great job.”
