Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure says it would be ‘a dream’ to play for Liverpool

Liverpool have been put on alert by comments from in-demand Watford star Abdoulaye Doucoure, who says it would be ‘a dream’ to play for the Reds.

The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Hornets after impressing at Vicarage Road.

Four of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs are reportedly tracking in the Frenchman, who joined Watford from Ligue 1 club Rennes for around £8million in 2016.

Doucoure later confirmed that Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool had all registered their interest.

But it appears the midfielder only has eyes for one club if he leaves Watford this summer.

“Liverpool is a club that need no introduction,” said Doucoure, who scored a goal against the Reds in a 3-3 draw between the clubs earlier this season.

“I was impatient to play there, at Anfield. I wanted to feel the atmosphere.

“For me it would be a dream to play in a club like this.”

Liverpool are on the radar for a new central midfielder this summer, with German international Emre Can expected to leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of the season.
