Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred is reportedly eyeing a move to the Premier League at the end of the season, agent Gilberto Silva has claimed.
The former Arsenal midfielder happens to be the representative of Fred, and in a recent interview with Sky Sports, he has confirmed his compatriot’s interest in joining a top English club.
He said: “At the moment we are open for the market and, when you see the whole market in football, the Premier League is one of the targets. We had inquiries for him in the last transfer window, but it didn’t happen.”
Premier League leaders Manchester City had been keen on getting a deal done for Fred during the winter transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise with Shakhtar reluctant to lose the midfielder midway through the season.
Since then, Manchester United have been credited with an interest in his signature with former Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu suggesting that Fred has made his mind up for a Manchester switch.
