Inter Milan have reportedly earmarked Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta as a potential target for the summer transfer window.
The Italy international only joined the Blues from Torino last summer but he failed to earn a regular starting role with just 12 Premier League starts during the 2017/18 season.
According to Tuttosport, Zappacosta’s position at Stamford Bridge remains in doubt beyond the summer and the Nerazzurri are aiming to capitalise on this to lure him back on Italy.
Nevertheless, Luciano Spalletti‘s side are only said to want an initial loan deal with the option to buy, considering they are working on a limited transfer budget for the summer.
Zappacosta was bought by Blues boss Antonio Conte in order to more competition to Victor Moses in the right wing-back position and his departure would most likely have to be compensated with a replacement.
With this in mind, Chelsea will most probably turn down loan offers for the Italian and may seek to recoup the entire £24.7m spent on his services 12 months ago.
