Arsenal are reportedly on the cusp of agreeing a deal for Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira. The Uruguay international is currently with his national side at the World Cup finals in Russia.
According to TalkSPORT, the Gunners’ chances of signing Torreira have bettered in recent days with Sampdoria deciding to pursue Lovro Majer from Lokomotiv Zagreb.
Unai Emery‘s side have already indicated their desire to sign Torreira over the past few weeks but the move is supposedly being stalled due to their reluctance to pay the transfer fee in full.
As per recent reports, the north London side are keen to pay up the player’s £22m release clause in stages but they are still confident of pushing through a deal with Sampdoria.
Torreira has remained mum on the speculation regarding his future but he recently dropped a hint by following both Mesut Ozil and Arsenal on Instagram.
